Sections that are going to be educational and key to research:
- Marriage equality in countries around the world
- History
- Laws
- Myth
- Lesbians vs Gay men
- Terminology
- Homosexuality and religion
- Animals and Homosexuality
- AIDs/HIV
I may not end up using all of these sections as my research may not prove to be worthy or time might be an issue.
Target Audience
Thinking about design aesthetic, usability and who will be my end user will determine each other. The purpose of the subject and concept is to help educate people what is homosexuality and what place does it have in the world around us. So this brings me to the end user, most likely because it will be educational it would be ideal to be used in schools to help teach. This means that the infographic needs to be engaging in colour and interaction as the key ages are from 13 to 18 years of age. This age area have short attention spans and if its not floating their boat they'll stop interacting pretty quickly. So my main areas that I'll need to focus on are:
- Information is visually pleasing, not too many words as it'll deter people from interacting
- Colours are visually pleasing and are relatable to the subject. Non threatening or low impacting colours with textures to break up the solid colours could be something to explore as then the idea isn't being forced on them.
- Interaction. Because my infographic is going to be mostly fact based and there is no method roll overs and a flow through the different sections is going to be key. The use of icons and tabs will help break up the sections and appeal to users, enticing them to click on thing to see and explore what they do.
Key Places for information
http://www.freedomtomarry.org/ |
This website has facts and figures on the Freedom to marry. Its going to be a big source for my information on marriage equality and it is also inspirational in the way that is designed as well. The colour pallet is engaging and non threatening with integration of texture to soften the solidity of colour.
